Our Mission

They stood for us. Now we fight for them to heal.

How It Began

I have always deeply admired veterans and first responders for their courage, honor, and love for others. They were often on my mind as I studied trauma-informed psychotherapies, neurofeedback, nutrition, and the benefits of functional medicine. They had given so much in service to others, and I wanted to give back to them.

Over the years, I came to understand that we cannot ask the brain to heal from trauma while ignoring the body that supports it. Trauma affects more than our thoughts and emotions. The brain influences the body, the body influences the brain, and each can affect the other’s ability to heal. I began to believe that making a greater impact on service-related trauma would require professionals from different disciplines working together to treat the whole person. Then, in 2025, something changed. I found myself having chance encounters with veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders outside of my office. I kept hearing heartbreaking stories of struggle, suicide, and handfuls of medications being used to manage daily symptoms. I finally decided enough was enough. I didn’t want to hear another story about a life lost to PTSD. I wanted to stop the next suicide.

I put together a detailed plan, made a few phone calls to people I believed could help bring it to life, assembled a board, and the PAASI Health for Heroes organization was born, known as Health For Our Heroes. My hope is to demonstrate the effectiveness of an integrative, collaborative approach to service-related PTSD and show that we can do better than lifelong symptom management. If the evidence supports what we believe is possible, my goal is to use what we learn to educate and train doctors, therapists, and dietitians across the country, expanding access to comprehensive care for veterans and first responders. Our heroes carry experiences most of us could never imagine. It is time we help carry them toward healing.

What We Stand For

Our core values guide every decision we make in the care and advocacy of our everyday heroes.

Evidence Over Tradition

We are committed to continually evaluating emerging research, evolving therapies, and integrative approaches rather than assuming one protocol is right for every person.

Whole-Person Healing

We believe lasting healing requires more than treating symptoms. We address the physiological, neurological, and psychological factors that influence trauma and mental health.

Unique Treatment Plans

Every veteran and first responder has a unique story, body, brain, and healing journey. Their treatment should be just as unique, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Hope Through Action

Our heroes deserve more than gratitude and promises. We are committed to turning hope into action by funding research, advancing treatment, and creating access to care nationwide.

The People Behind the Mission

A mission this important was never meant to be carried by one person. Together, our board brings the experience, perspective, and commitment needed to help turn our mission into meaningful change.
