Frequently Asked Questions
The estimated cost of care for each hero participating in the pilot study is $6,000. Because every participant will receive an individualized treatment plan based on their unique needs, the actual cost of care will vary. Our hope is that the results of this pilot study will help demonstrate the value of comprehensive care, and pave the way for broader coverage by healthcare payers in the future.

The Problem Isn’t That Care Doesn’t Exist. It’s That the Pieces Aren’t Connected.
All of the services included in our approach already exist, but not all are currently covered by insurance or government healthcare programs. PTSD care is most commonly centered on psychotherapy and medication management, while services addressing physical health, neuroregulation, and nutrition are not routinely integrated into one coordinated treatment plan. We want to change the current standard, one that utilizes a team of multidisciplinary practitioners as part of one coordinated treatment plan.
Health For Our Heroes was created to bridge those gaps, bringing the pieces together so we can treat the whole person, not just individual symptoms.

Our vision is to use what we learn from the pilot study to educate and train professionals nationwide, expand access to comprehensive care, and advocate for broader acceptance of this approach to PTSD treatment by the VA and other healthcare payers.

Donations help cover the components of comprehensive care that are not fully covered by insurance and other healthcare payers. This may include medical testing, neurofeedback, nutritional support, psychotherapy, and other services needed as part of each participant’s individualized treatment plan.

We Believe Better Care Should Produce Measurable Results.
Throughout the pilot study, we will evaluate participants’ progress to determine whether this comprehensive approach leads to more meaningful improvements in PTSD symptoms and overall well-being than the traditional protocol of psychotherapy and psychotropic medications. The goal isn’t simply to help 30 heroes. It is to gather the evidence needed to determine whether this approach can be expanded to help thousands more.
